Notes: Flamenco shoes recommended. The mantones will not be used at the beginning of the class, so no need to purchase. Styles and cost will be discussed/ decided together. 

Description: Experience the passion, drama, and rhythmic power of flamenco in this exciting journey from Tientos to Tangos. We’ll begin with the slow, stately intensity of Tientos, exploring its grounded movement, expressive upper body, dramatic arms, and deliberate 4-beat compás. Inspired by the deep emotional character of cante jondo, Tientos invites dancers to embody themes of longing, heartbreak, and passion through controlled, sensual movement and musical expression. The choreography will also incorporate the mantón—the traditional flamenco shawl—adding sweeping lines, dramatic accents, and expressive dimension to the dance. As the music builds, we’ll experience the signature transformation of the style, accelerating from the solemn character of Tientos into the lively, rhythmic energy of Tangos. The class culminates in a festive Tangos finale, where technique gives way to freedom, playfulness, and pure flamenco joy. Come discover the contrast, connection, and magic between these two beloved flamenco styles—and dance your way from drama to fiesta!
